Just got back from last weeks event: FEFCO SUMMIT VIENA
For the ones who doesn’t know FEFCO is the European Federation of Corrugated Cardboard Industry. Where corrugators, providers, invited people from overseas atc come to get together, share knowledge and sometimes do business.
Some of the highlights in my humble opinion:
Mr Marco Mensink, CEPI General Director did a great presentation on the actual Raw material mkt situation and what would be necessary to maintain this mkt ok for the rising of the BRICKS demanding population:
- 2010 – 78% of the paper is recycled (packaging paper)
- We are facing in some places (US) and there are conversation and projects in order to implement: – Bans on incineration of reciclable products, land fields and masses in general.
The opinion of Mr Peter Oswald in the future (2030) of the Corrugated industry in the EU:
- Turkey and Russia new EU with important role
- Poland one of the single to keep the spetacular growth it has been facing
- On the other hand countries such as Bulgaria, Romenia, Hungary won’t face the same growth as before.
Finally the comments of Mr Zhang Yaoquan, Vice Chairman of China Packaging Federation and President of the Corrugated divisioin:
Basically afirming that China is still 20 years behind the EU and USA in this industry, but that their government is pushing and asking the industry to update.

 As probably a lot of you know, we have different social networks around the globe and as it happened to Orkut.com in several countries (India, Brazil, etc) users tend to converge to one, choosing the best among all and leaving behind the old not so cool anymore tools.
But some other aspects also influence in this type of social media tools. It’s logic as if we think about the last paragraph where I stand that people tend to get together, it’s because they want to communicate, exchange info, get to klnow something, and here the language is a key topic, so it’s more than normal that you have different social media tools / webs, etc divided by language.
Here I show you a interesting one called www.viadeo.com (if you speak portuguease from Brazil you are probably laughing now), jokes apart thi seems to be a good tool if you want to contact the french speaking Africa, Canada and France.
 FESPA announces the formation of a joint venture with Brazilian APS event planning, the company organizing ExpoPrint, the largest digital printing event in Latin America. His firstinitiative will be presented along with Brazil FESPA Digital ExpoPrint 2013, to be held at Expo Center Norte, São Paulo, from 13 to 16 March 2013.
In celebrating Brazil FESPA  together with Digital ExpoPrint 2013, the event will have a dual approach. FESPA Brazil will offer visitors a comprehensive exhibition on the latest innovations in the field of large format printing (screen, digitaland textile), printing of garments and digital signage. On the other hand ExpoPrint continues to provide an overview of transactional printing, direct marketing, variable data printing, digital publishing and the digital label and packaging.

What a weird time we live in:
I go to the gim and people do not talk to you, only to complain that you are taking their space… I just ready that we work more in our society them a lot of slaves in the human history… we live based in a very fragile economic system, where a couple of companies say if a country is worth putting your money or not, and people believe it!!!
Now we have to stay a whole day without wikipedia due to a stupid US couple of bill proposals, you cannot see some videos in youtube as they are considered not good in the AMERCIAN standard for people under 18, doesnt matter where you live, same for a lot of other webs, it’s just ridiculous that the internet world depends so much in that country’s moral and political standards (if you ask me both pretty stupid in general).
Why don’t wikipedia and all the other webs just shut down the access for people connecting from the USA?! this is the best way to make that people fight for what they want to see and have. That country is the first to say they fight all around the globe for people’s free of speach (and their citizens cannot even dance in front a public monument)… tsc tsc tsc RIDICULOUS! RIDICULOUS! RIDICULOUS!!!!
I wish I had the power to just disclose, youtube, wikipedia, google, facebook, from all that disgusting american false and archaic moral, make this web GLOBAL, just as the air or the clouds that does not belong to any country and represents the internet as it’s symbol.
Feel so frustrated by nor been able to do anything….

In two weeks time in the trendy and eletric city of Berlin, two important events will be taking part.
From the 21st to the 23rd of November, Berlin will be filled with the brains of the EU society in charge of changing our life style to a less harmful to the environement, meaning that the plastic bag we use to carry our groserry food wont be plast, but somthing else like potato skin plastic. Sounds weird but interesting?
Well, it does not stops there, the ink used to print this new generations of materials / substrates will have to follow the same path, meaning that Fanal pigments, Heavy metals, mineral pigments are totally out of the pictures, and some colors, even if they are no any of the ones mentioned before, will have to carry a less concentration of pigment, making the challenge of nice images something a little bit more trick than it used to be.
